This was the 1st layout I did for the scrapbooking HOF (Hall of Fame) 2007 contest, for the "Crafty Combo" assignment. I was really ticked off that I couldn't use it, especially after I put so much detail work into it. The rules stated that ALL photos have to be taken by the entrant, but the 2nd page featuring me holding Omar were taken by Tariq, so this instantly disqualified this layout. What a shame! This is such a great story. This was our first trip to Jordan visiting Tariq's family with Omar being just under 1 year. After our connecting flight from Cleveland to Chicago, we knew that the upcoming 12 hour flight to Jordan will not be accomplished with our sanity intact. That 45 minute flight was a nightmare: Omar was screaming, pushing us away, sweating, shaking...what a torture to endure for us and the other passengers. The instant we arrived in Chicago, Tariq went up to the Royal Jordanian flight desk and upgraded our tickets to 1st class - a move well worth it, because once he got his 1st class crown and a luxurious recliner-of-a-throne, he relaxed and slept for almost the entire trip. This was my 1st time in 30 years flying 1st class, but little Omar accomplished flying in style before his first birthday. If his taste for the finer things in life continues, I don't think we can afford him!
